New Haven is a city in eastern Allen County, directly east of Fort Wayne, along the Maumee River. It grew up as a canal and railroad town and remains a junction for several rail lines, giving it a long industrial history. City parks along the river and throughout town provide green space, and Fort Wayne’s downtown, Promenade Park, Parkview Field and other attractions are just a short drive west. The surrounding countryside to the east is flat farmland stretching toward the Ohio line.
New Haven sits on the heavy clay of the old Great Black Swamp’s western edge, along with river-bottom soils near the Maumee. Those soils drain slowly and keep slabs and basements damp, and low areas near the river can see high groundwater. A coating system with a moisture-tolerant primer, broadcast flake and a polyaspartic topcoat protects floors against water, salt and stains.
