Epoxy Floor & Concrete Coating Contractors in Allen Park, Michigan

Drivers on I-94 know Allen Park by the giant Uniroyal Tire, an 80-foot landmark that started life as a Ferris wheel at the 1964 New York World’s Fair. Beyond that roadside icon, this Downriver city is a close-knit suburb with tidy brick neighborhoods, community parks and a downtown along Allen Road. Ford Motor Company has offices here, the Detroit Lions train in Allen Park, and Dearborn, Lincoln Park and Taylor are all next door.

Brick Bungalows, Basements and Brine

Allen Park’s housing largely dates from the 1940s through the 1960s, so basements are the norm and many slabs are well past their prime. Hairline cracks, old paint or tile adhesive and moisture creeping through the floor all have to be dealt with before a new coating will stick. Detached and attached garages take a pounding from Downriver road salt and the constant freezing and thawing of a Michigan winter, which leaves bare concrete pitted and flaking. The flat lake-plain clay beneath the city drains slowly, adding to basement dampness after heavy rains.

• Basement rec rooms, bars and laundry areas in post-war homes
• One- and two-car garages that need salt protection
• Small offices, shops and restaurants downtown
• Workshops for hobby mechanics and woodworkers

Grinding off old coatings and adhesives is often the first step in these older houses, followed by crack repair, a moisture-tolerant primer and a flake or solid-color finish that brightens the room.
