Akron is a village in the Town of Newstead in northeastern Erie County, about 25 miles from Buffalo. Akron Falls Park, a county park built around a waterfall on Murder Creek, is the village’s best-known spot, with trails, picnic areas and a scenic gorge. The village once had a thriving natural cement industry, and its historic downtown and surrounding farmland give it a small-town, rural character. The Tonawanda Seneca Nation’s territory lies just to the north.
Akron gets plenty of western New York winter, with lake-effect snow, deep cold and frequent freeze–thaw cycles. Roads are salted heavily, and long driveways and farm properties see snowmelt, mud and grit through spring. Older homes in the village often have basements with aging slabs, and the surrounding farmland is dotted with barns and equipment buildings that need tough floors.
Many of the floors here have gone years without protection, so grinding, crack repair and a durable topcoat can extend their life considerably.
Contractors listed for Akron typically serve northeastern Erie County and nearby Genesee and Niagara counties. Compare their services and request quotes before you schedule work.
