Epoxy Floor & Concrete Coating Contractors in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Ann Arbor is a college town in the best sense. The University of Michigan anchors the city with Michigan Stadium, the Big House, along with the Diag, the Law Quad and the Matthaei Botanical Gardens. The Huron River curves through Gallup Park and Argo Pond, and Nichols Arboretum is a favorite place to walk among its peony garden and hills. Kerrytown’s market district, Main Street dining and the summer art fair keep downtown busy year-round.

Old Houses, Wet Soils and Winter Salt

A lot of Ann Arbor’s housing is older, from Burns Park and Old West Side homes to mid-century ranches, and many have basements that pick up moisture through the slab. Before any coating goes down, a contractor should test for vapor and select a primer that tolerates it, or the finish can blister. Southeast Michigan winters bring repeated freezes and thaws, and Washtenaw County roads get plenty of salt, so garage floors in the city and in surrounding townships like Pittsfield and Scio take damage that a sealed polyaspartic or flake system can prevent.

Clay soils common in the area can shift with seasonal moisture and create cracks, which should be filled and stabilized during prep.
